Desktop friendly mobile websites?

Back in 2015 Google upped the anti on mobile website marketing.  The change made it difficult for websites that are not up to Mobile standards, to appear in the top results for mobile devices and that lower traffic volume will impact your page ranking for Desktop devices.  Although this was several years ago many businesses continue to use websites that do not function on mobile devices.

It is important to note that by the end of 2017 over 50% of all search done was from a cell phone.  And for some business segments you could find more than 70% of your visits coming from mobile devices.  For those businesses it would make more sense to design a mobile website that is desktop friendly.

How to Go Mobile Friendly:iPhone Video

  • Build a mobile dedicated website and redirect mobile users to the mobile friendly version of the site when a phone or mobile device is used.
  • Use a Responsive design for your website which allows the site to flex in size and move Panes that are side by side into a vertical order.  This is a good option if you would like to reduce the labor required to update the site because you only have to manage the information once.

Note that there are advantages and disadvantages to both and there are some other options depending on the current design of your website so talk to one our Internet Consultants before you make a change you might regret later.

The most important thing is to remember that your website is your best sales person.  It works 24-7 to bring you quality leads.  The early investment you make in going mobile will pay you back over and over again as your competitors who do not go mobile will continue to loose page ranking to you.  The converse is true as well….Do not go mobile and you will loose page ranking to your competitors.

Many marketing agencies suggest they are the best company to work with because they specialize in your businesses like yours. Perhaps they offer a website platform that is designed for your business segment. It is true that the company that specializes in a single segment can offer some benefits however it is important to separate the actual marketing of your business from some functional benefits of at specialized service. Why? If, for example, you own a furniture store and you use the same marketing company that your competitors do, it is likely that your marketing dollars will not as beneficial as they could be. The reason for that is that marketing research done for your company is likely to be shared with your competitors by your marketing agency that represents more than one furniture store. If your competitors use the same marketing techniques as your company your efforts will be diluted and not beneficial. Better Marketing Make sure the marketing company you select can commit to giving you exclusive service.  Exclusive service should mean that they do not work other companies in your industry or not with your direct competitors. When you develop a successful marketing campaign you will be glade your marketing company is not in touch with your competitors.
